Mica smiled when Sarah agreed to let her join. "Fantastic! " she replied with a smile and a little bounce in her step as she grabbed her backpack and threw it over her shoulder. She looks at Sarah Jane when she asked about a sonic screwdriver. "Do I have a sonic screwdriver? " she repeated with her eyebrow cocked before pulling out her screwdriver. It was a black and copper casing that when she flipped it open would shine a deep blue. "You mean like this one?" She asked with a smile "I never leave home without it...be prepared for anything my dad always said" she replies while going over to Dean and presses the levers and buttons to take the back to the closet. "Now I must warn that since this is going to be a tight fit for dean things are going to be pretty snug in that closet. ..unless you want to land some place else."she says while typing coordinates. She wasn't kidding about the space issues of the broom close, they would be packed tighter than a can of smoked kippers. "Its your choice what would you like to do?" She asks Sarah hoping she had a better idea.
The brightness of Mica's smile took her by surprise. She was sunshine from her bright teeth to her dark dark eyes. Then the young woman topped it all by brandishing a sonic screwdriver at Sarah Jane's request. A request she'd made mostly out of whimsy. It was heartening, that Mica would carry such a thing with the same devotion she seemed to have for her bag of endless weapons which she slung so easily up to her shoulder. Her own choice of pistol was heavy in her coat, and weighed equally in her mind. Mica had said she'd only use weapons if she had to. Sarah Jane had never been very good at figuring out where that line lay. It was one thing the Doctor had never taught her.
"I think I like your Dad!" She said, coming close, hoping for a closer peek at it.
It was then that Mica pointed out the trouble they were about to cause for themselves. Pinpoint driving of TARDIS? Not even the Doctor could do that. Not unless he had to, and sometimes not even then. Sarah Jane felt a cheeky smile come to her face, a smile of conspiracy.
"I think we should park Dean outside; can't have him falling into the wrong crowd." She indicated the Sonic with a lifting of her chin. "With that sonic screwdriver, we can break back in and head down to see who our visitors are."
Mica smiled a bit at the mention of her father by Sarah "He was a good man...He would have liked you too Sarah Jane" she said while sitting at Deans controls.
"I think we should park Dean outside; can't have him falling into the wrong crowd." She indicated the Sonic with a lifting of her chin. "With that sonic screwdriver, we can break back in and head down to see who our visitors are."
She smiled at Sarah's plan...she liked this plan. "Brilliant idea Sarah! You're a very clever woman!" She said while punching in the coordinates for outside of the building. She went to the door and looked at Sarah Jane. "Are you ready to find out who our visitors are?"
Mica unsettled her for the best of reasons. Maybe this was why it was so important that women be part of the whole throughout society. She was so used to first having to prove herself in situations like this. Mica had already taken stock of her and found her up to the task. Mica was ready to dive in and Sarah Jane wouldn't have to waste energy trying to convince her. It was a welcome change from anyone but the Doctor. Well, and the Brigadier. They matched each other's grin, and she could even see excitement flashing in Mica's dark eyes.
"Always." She said simply.
It was hard to explain just what it felt like to sit down on the car bench inside Dean, then stand up out of it to find oneself outside a car. It was cool though, and she smiled across at Mica.
"What do you say?" She jerked her chin at the building which was now about a block away. "Do we try for the ground floor? Or down a manhole?"
It bothered Sarah Jane that she was glad of the space folding pack on Mica's back holding guns galore. Well, it wasn't wrong just to think it, and wasn't she packing herself? Indeed she was. But this could be life or death depending on who had taken up residency.
Mica walked out of Dean stared at the manhole then to the building a block away. "well lets see a simple walk in is too easy and they might be expecting it...of course they might be expecting a surprise too..." she paused for a moment before going to the manhole and opening it. "I say lets take the sneak in through the manhole route....always wanted to try that" she replied with a smile before adding "I take it your not one of those girls who don't mind getting her hands dirty?"
"Well, I don't mind getting your gloves dirty." She quipped with a grin, taking a couple of pairs out of her pockets that she'd taken from Mica's larder. She handed out a pair in case Mica wanted them. She was sorry she hadn't moved faster to help with the heavy cover, but Mica seemed to have quite a handle on it anyway. Sarah Jane was reevaluating the strength in her. Gallifreyian indeed.
"You're lucky to have me as a tour guide then, I've definitely gone the sewer rout before." Technically, it was not a sewer. This shaft would lead down into the down water spillways, pumps, and other such equipment access. That was a mouthful, so sewer would do. She was already getting on her knees, toe finding that first ladder step.
"Lets see what we've got here." She said, aiming her pocket sized torch down into the gloom. Rounded grey walls, and an inch of sluggish water down in the bottom of the curve. She looked up at Mica, glad it wasn't worse for the woman's first time. "It looks pretty good." Down the ladder she went, it was awkward without handholds above the street, but as she said, it wasn't her first time.
She jumped off the last rung. A quick flash of her torch this way and that showed her nothing stirred, not even a mouse.
Mica chuckled at the remark about the gloves and took the other pair of gloves from her. "Good one" she added while pulling them. "I'm glad that at least one of us has been in a sewer before. If I guided us we might have ended up in a lu of the resturant next door." she replied while looking down the sewer with her and followed her down the ladder and jumped off last rung of the ladder and on to the edge. "Aaand she stick the dismount" she chuckled before looking at Sarah. "So which way should we go?" she asked while pulling out her sonic and turning it to the flashlight setting.
When Mica smiled, the sun came out, even in the underground. Clearly, she was having fun. It was amazing how that melted away much of the stress of the last few days. None of that mattered now. There was a plan, and some help, and company of a quality she didn't quite understand yet.
But it was all getting fun again. She found herself smiling back, a gleeful co-conspirator outlined in the colored light of Mica's sonic. At her question, she reexamined the three dark, angled tunnels spreading out around them. Two of them logically could end up under the complex. Well, certainly they did, but which one went near the side she wanted to be on? She scratched the end of her nose while she thought it through.
"I saw a diagram. It showed the basement levels on the West side in red." she pointed, not oriented down here, but the street they'd just left had been. If we're lucky, we won't even have to go back up to the surface."
Mica looks down the tunnel that Sarah was pointing down. "Well that makes sense" she replied while following Sarah Jane down the tunnel making sure to shine the sonic light ahead of them to avoid injuries of falling over something. She laughed at the remark about her jump off the ladder "oh come on that was an even 10 and you know it" she remarked with a smirk.
They walked down the tunnel listening to the clanging of the pipes above them and the ocasional squeaking of a rodent behind them. "It's a good thing my mother isn't here she can't stand dark places with politicians..I mean rodents" she said while walking until they saw the exit. "Ah good here we are" she said with a smile while looking at Sarah Jane "Shall we start or ivestigation?" she asked
For days she'd been diving into this on her own, been submerged in all of this on her own. It felt completely different to be going in with Mica at her back. She followed the light gently dancing on the bottom of the tunnel ahead of her, doing her best not to try to identify any debris she had to avoid.
"I'll give you the rest of the points for your fashion sense." Mica had a certain flare. She wasn't dressed in a uniform, and she didn't have the macabre images Sarah Jane was used to seeing on a mercenary. Mica seemed to be a sort all her own. "You've got to take me shopping after this." She said, then was glad they were in the dark. What made her think that Mica would stick around after all this for more time than it took to say goodbye? If she said goodbye at all. Oh . . .Time Lords. That line of thinking sobered her for a moment.
"Ah good here we are" Mica said, the strange light of her sonic device etching the fine and perfect angles of her face. "Shall we start or ivestigation?"
They were standing next to something that looked quite a bit like a hatch. A thick metal door that was not of Earth construction for certain. She did not recognize it. It wasn't Dalek, was the only thing she was certain of. She smiled back at the engaging woman, but bit her own lips together for an instant before her face turned serious and she caught the woman by the wrist.
"You know the Doctor. Well . .I'm not him. I have my own way of doing things. Whomever has come here, it is clear to me that they're a destructive force . .and I will stop them, whatever it takes. If I have to choose. . .well . . .don't argue with me. It's hard enough already, and this is my planet."
Was she trying to convince Mica? Or herself. Was she trying to talk herself into it? Or out of it?
Murder. It wouldn't be the first time.

Mica cheesed a grin at the compliment on her fashion sense "thanks I never liked dresses and lets face it never followed orders to save my skin" she replied before giving a small chuckle and adding "shopping would be a nice change of pace after this..just PLEASE don't put me in a dress"
Mica did nothing about Sarahs suddon change in expression or her wrist being grabbed but stare at her and listen for a reason for the change in atmosphere.
She stood in a state of shock for only a minute before placing her hand on Sarah's hand that held her wrist and gave a reassuring smile. "I know you are not the Doctor. I mostly know him from stories I've heard of him , and I understand that whatever has come here did not come for tea and biscuits...and I will help you do whatever it takes to get rid of them because in 75 years I will be born in Cardiff. Surpising as it is this is my planet too just in this point and time but if we don't stop it there's a possibility that it wont be here 75 years from now." she hated to say that last part but it was true that it could happen. "Lets go see what our unwelcomed guest look like and see if we can't take them apart" She repied before removing her wrist from Sarahs grasp and going to the door "My wrist was getting sweaty from the gloves so lets get get going" She said with a smile.

There was a mild afront on Mica's face that made Sarah Jane feel shorter than a sugar cube. Having expected to be dismissed after that, she found herself being convinced logical point after logical point.
That was almost secondary to the fact that Mica not only did not pull away, but steadied Sarah Jane's hand with her own. The warmth of the woman's smile shone even in the half dark, a perfect if shadowed shape of kindness. She found herself breathing deeper, and thinking any more time spent doubting this woman's resolve or position was a waste of energy. A good thing, for she figured there would be little to spare, if they survived at all.
She found herself smiling back in the dark as their hands left each other. As soon as they ducked down the hatch though, leading to a wide enough lined tunnel, she felt a confession coming on.
"I've been working alone a long time, Mica, I'm sorry. I'm not used to trusting people any more. Few can stay the course."
As they walked down the tunnel Mica listened to the confession of not being used to trust people. To be honest she knew how Sarah felt about trusting people because honestly the only person she ever really trusted had become her TARDIS. "It's ok Sarah I understand completely, trust me I know the feeling" she replied with a smile. "To be honest there were only two people I ever trusted..and neither of them were my mother" she added before stoping at another door.
"what ever these things are they certainly like their doors and tunnel systems" she said with an unmistakable hint of sarcasm before eyeing somthing different about this one. It had a "complicated" locking system.
She looked at the lock while inedvertantly fliping her sonic before letting out a sigh and going to work "Honestly if they're going to make a lock on door make it sonic proof"
It brought her up short that Mica seemed to truly understand. There was no flinging of accusation in return, just a reflection that told her she really was not alone. The light of the sonic made a glint of light in the woman's eye. It was as clear that she'd seen adversity as it was clear she remained a sunny creature at heart. She'd never met a Time Lord like that since the Doctor. Only the sour, the angry, the greedy. Mica simply seemed to be on a bit of a romp, no matter how certain Sarah Jane was that if things took a turn, Mica would be ready to take on with her and not freeze.
"Thanks . . I'll stop worrying . . ." She gave a rueful little shake of her head. "Thank you." The door came open, and she helped tug it wide. With a shrug, she went through.
They were definitely inside the building. Upstairs might be all wool carpet and art, but down here it was utilitarian and a touch over heated. Service ways of concrete. Bank lighting. Doors. Silence. Then she spotted the camera, and pointed up at it, shoulder to shoulder with Mica.
"Thanks . . I'll stop worrying . . ." She gave a rueful little shake of her head. "Thank you."
Mica gave a small smile as she worked the lock "you're welcome" she said as she heard the tumblers give way and the door finally was unlocked in no more than two minutes. She stood up and placed her sonic in her jacket pocket and with the help of Sarah she pulled the door all the way open.
She stood back and with a bow let Sarah go through "ladies first please" she replied. Granted anatomy wise she a lady but she never thought of herself as one when it came to manorisms. She followed quickly behing Sarah and stood beside her. She looked around the room which felt a bit off to her and for a second she couldnt put her finger on it until Sarah brought her attention to the camera. "Ah there's the erie feeling" she muttered and she instictivly pulled Sarah behind her ,reached into her bag, pulled out a paintball gun , aimed, and fired a ball of red paint directly into the eye of the camera covering it in red paint.
She then turned to Sarah motioned to where she had her gun as a way of telling her to get ready if they had been spotted. She then put her backpack on the ground and pulled out a double holster shelving two semi-automatics and ammo. After strapping on the holster she put the backpack back on and looked for more cameras with the paintball gun.
