She barely muffled a chuckle of glee as Mica made the camera go blind, red as though she'd slain it. A wound that could be fixed with a bit of elbow grease. Sarah Jane approved, and wished that she herself was holding a gun that shot paint.
Paint gun. Lovely idea. Standing just behind Mica's shoulder, she gave the woman an approving pat there.
"Nice." she whispered.
Her other hand held her gun. The safety was on, and she wasn't waving it around, but she'd taken it out at Mica's signal. It was heavy, but the perfect heavy. The sort of heavy that made it glide smooth through the air, heavy enough to cancel out any tremor of fear. Funny thing was, the only thing she was afraid of right now was the power of the gun in her hand. There was something absolutely confident about Mica that made Sarah Jane feel at ease. This was actually getting fun again.
"We can't get into these computers without setting off the alarm, but I've noticed on every floor I've been to, there is a simple printed map in the janitor's closet. We could follow the pipes-" She pointed up to where water pipes were clearly visible, "to the map, or we could follow the camera wires to the Security room. What do you think?'
Mica smiled at the pat on the back and word of praise. " Thank you " she replied while watching the room with Sarah trying to determine the next plan of attack.
"We can't get into these computers without setting off the alarm, but I've noticed on every floor I've been to, there is a simple printed map in the janitor's closet. We could follow the pipes-" Sara pointed up to where water pipes were clearly visible, "to the map, or we could follow the camera wires to the Security room. What do you think?"
Mica pondered the two options for a moment. "Hmmm pipes or wires, map or security room" she rested the paintball gun on her shoulder as she thought before looking to Sarah. "As much as I would love to see what we're dealing with storming the security room would be a lost cause if we get lost in this place trying to escape." She looked at Sarah "but seeing as they might expect that I say lets look into the security room to see what our 'friends are'" she replied while looking at Sarah Jane. "Sound like a plan?"
It was, perhaps, a test. Why did she continue to seek the margins of this woman? Because she wanted to like her. Wanted to trust her. There was something of the sunshine and fresh air about her even here in the sterile dim halls.
She liked Mica's answer. It was the best of both worlds.
They really did need to know who or what they were up against, but if you could see them, they could see you. Sneaking was one of Sarah Jane's favorite plans. Knowledge with less danger. Information one could walk away with. And by the silken way that Mica moved, she dare say the pair of them could get quite close without being detected themselves.
"Plan 'A' it is for now then." She agreed low under her breath, their smiles reflecting back and forth at each other.
There was the complication that so the wires went, so did the line of cameras. From here it would be cover, time, run, cover. Her eyes are already counting the swing of the next camera. "'Come on, here we go." She took the hall at a good clip. This one wasn't even much of a challenge, but she wanted to show off a little and look bold. It never hurt to look bold. It was awfully nice to be back in a pair of boots, not to mention being back in the company of an affable Time Lord. Time Lady?
She felt a sense of acceptance with Sarah which made her feel happy but at the same time she could sense a small bit of doubt from her as well. What happend to her to make her so wiry of her timelord side. That was something to ask at a later date right now her mind was set on finding out what they're up against and stopping it.
She watched as the cameras moved and then looked at Sarah when she gave her word and followed her lead. staring to run as the cameras were facing the other direction and stopping when they were in their blind spots. To be honest she hadn't had this much fun since Dean was alive. Once they were at the steps she noticed there was no cameras anywhere near the stair well which made her wonder if all the stairwells were the same. After they had made their she looked at Sarah "Okay so what is our next steps" she asked
They moved easily together. She found she was neither worried about Mica nor depending on her. Very good to have at her back.
The stop-and-sprint through the hallways had been a simple, almost fun exercise. It was fun to judge the camera's swing, take off running, then turn and watch Mica do the same thing. Or sometimes they ran together, arms not quite brushing, but she could hear her new friend breathing.
Controlled.
They came to a stairwell. Mica tossed the choice in her lap.
"Down. I think our answers will be found in subfloors, so the maps that way will have more information about them."
She put her back to the wall and got her best look through the small window to the stairwell, craning her neck. Then she looked back to Mica.
As she listened she looked around at the cameras and then back at Sarah as she explained her reasoning for going to the subfloors. Which made sense because those maps would have the most information. "Alrighty" she said with a smile.
As she watched Sarah crane her head to look into the small window she heard a statement of the door having an alarm. She crossed her arms for a moment to think. "Well I would be surprised if there wasn't one" she replied with sort of a chuckle as she pulled out her sonic and placing it at the doors lock. "Cross your fingers and lets hope this works" She remarked as she tuned into a frequency to disable the alarm.
