First Incarnation: - Micheal Jayston
'Corpse Host'/Second Incarnation: - Skulduggery Pleasant
Third Incarnation: - Sean Bean
Name: The Valeyard
Age: Around 500 years old
Gender: Depends on incarnation.
Species: Time Lord
Planet of Origin: Gallifrey
Occupation: Rogue. A Soldier without a battle. On the run from The Time Lords who he still believes to be living.
Physical Description: In his first incarnation, The Valeyard wore black Gallifreyian robes that distinguished his role in the trial of The Doctor. A black skull cap also adorned his head.
In the second incarnation, The damage of battle had worn away The Valeyard's body to a near walking skeleton. He wore a black pinstripe suit with white shirt and black tie and a wide brimmed black fedora on his head.
In his third incarnation, The Valeyard appeared to be an older man with long scraggly grey/white hair and a stubbly beard. He wore a long beaten dark coloured Napoleonic tunic with sleeves pulled up to the elbows, tatty black waistcoat, faded dark green shirt, a worn and torn black WWI tie, black pirate breeches, scuffed and dull black military riding boots and faded black fingerless gloves. He also wore a battered dual bandoliers across his shoulders sometimes carried his weaponry.
Personality: The Valeyard is a mysterious individual. The fact that he is an amalgamation of The Doctor and an alternate persona mean that he can be merciful, wise and authoritative. But the fact that he has developed his own mind and body due to his continued fighting in The War, mean that he can be short tempered and aggressive. He will do whatever it takes to survive and sometimes believes that the ends suit the means and will stop at nothing to achieve his goal. He still fights with The Doctor element of his consciousness however and will sometimes let The Doctor's nature shine through should the victim be someone he has grown to admire. The Valeyard is also no stranger to vice, taking a particular liking to the consumption of alcohol and sexual activities through out his travels. Unlike his heroic counterpart, The Valeyard will often carry a weapon on his person in case of any attackers/aggressors (e.g Revolver, Cutlass, Plasma Rifle).
History: The Valeyard gained a reputation on Gallifrey as an 'evil' incarnation of The Doctor and used as prosecutor in his counterparts trial. In part, this was true but the actual nature of The Valeyard was never determined until Rassilon's return during the Time War.
After being defeated and destroyed in The Matrix by The Seventh Doctor, The Valeyard's consciousness 'leaked' out of his original form and was left to wander through the corridors of The Matrix, contemplating his own existence and how he had come to being. The Master had claimed that he had sprouted somewhere between The Doctor's Twelfth and 'Final' Incarnation but that was when The Master had first met him. The story of The Valeyard's creation had started long ago, when The Doctor was still in his Eighth Incarnation. The living Anti-Time entity Zagreus had possessed The Doctor and bonded with him, sharing his consciousness and his memories. When Zagreus was banished to The Divergent Universe, he had retained all the knowledge and memories of The Doctor and was recalled by The High Council of Time Lords during The Time War to bond with Rassilon and become the ultimate being in an attempt to stop the war.
Unfortunately, Zagreus returned to this universe too early and arrived on Gallifrey before the war and when The Doctor was still in his Sixth Incarnation. However, Zagreus managed to take over a insignificant Time Lord host body absolutely and use him for his own gains but inside his head, the small part of The Doctor that remained fought back and forced Zagreus to make a deal with the Time Lords to cover up the Ravalox scandal in exchange for a true form. The Time Lords therefore proposed The Valeyard be granted The Doctor's remaining regenerations. This was still part of The consciousness Doctor's plan however. If this new entity named 'The Valeyard' by The Time Lords succeeded, enough of The Doctor could be pieced together to fight off Zagreus and The Doctor would technically still exist. However, this plan was thwarted when The Master revealed that during a meeting between himself and The Valeyard, the latter had revealed himself to be a dark amalgamation of The Doctor's personas. This was not the case as The Valeyard was having a mental argument between The Doctor and Zagreus parts of his psych, and reached out to The Master by exclaiming that he was The Doctor trying to fight the darkness within him and he was loosing.
So as The Valeyard's consciousness remained within The Matrix he was retrieved upon orders of The General during The Time War to be used as another solider. He was granted another body and the last type 40 TARDIS that remained on Gallifrey (as The Type 40 was widely accepted to be the least dangerous iteration of the machine). With the Zagreus part of his mind finally destroyed and locked away in The Matrix where he could do no harm, The Valeyard embraced his new existence as the living part of The Doctor's memories and mind, still continuing with the name Valeyard. But this was short lived. Upon orders from an unknown source within The High Council, The War Council was ordered to treat The Valeyard as still potentially hostile and to be given a 'corpse host', a body created entirely out of spare parts (in this case: dead Time Lords and broken bits of Dalek as they were in abundance.) and when the host form was finished, The Valeyard would be returned to The Matrix. However, with the help of a source known only as 'An old friend', The Valeyard escaped his fate and The Time War, running with his TARDIS into The Time Vortex and disappearing entirely.
After escaping into the vortex, The Valeyard's TARDIS was forced to crash land by a pursuing Time Lord who apparently been sent by the High Council to murder him. The Valeyard intercepted the for, calling himself 'The Vigilante' and killed him first, beating into his regeneration and then stealing the energy from his body. The 'corpse host' The Valeyard inhabited regenerated and gave him a new body, in which he could continue to live his life. Turned bitter by The War and his own race, The Valeyard slowly began to accept that he was no longer part of The Doctor and was his own being, even deciding to become the Time Lord that The Doctor could never be. Choosing to return to The War, The Valeyard posed as The Doctor on several missions earning The Doctor the name of 'Great Warrior', even terraforming his TARDIS to match the exterior of The Doctor's but changing the yellow lighting to red and the blue paint to the look of burnt and scorched wood as he had "always preferred black."
Addition Medical Information:
Allergic to aspirin.
RP Sample: The sun rose over the mountains of the Caribbean Island. Cocks crowed and bells rung as tall masted ships bobbed in the harbour. The sun bear down on scorched sand and cobblestone as the dawn of July the 21st, 1665 rose high in the sky. The tradesmen and pirates that ran the port of Nassau sang and jeered loudly as the time marched on to 10:30 in the morning.
In a nearby tavern, a strange individual lurched out of a small room in the guest accommodation. It was easy to tell that from his movements, he had indulged in too much to drink the night before. His clothes look oddly out of place as many of them were not from this time zone. The man who made himself known last night as The Valeyard, made his way down to the dockside to eye up the galleons and frigates that laden the harbour. Among the names that bobbed along the side of the boats was the familiar visage of 'Queen Anne's Revenge'. A voice called down to The Valeyard as he walked by...
"Leaving already Valeyard?"
The visage of cruelty that was Blackbeard, the most feared pirate of them all leant across the railings of the boat and called across to Valeyard who strolled past, staggering and blissfully unaware of his surroundings. He turned and climbed over some crates and began moving boxes away from a shipment of crates that stood on the edge of the jetty. The Valeyard called back as his gruff voice croaked and creaked like nails down a chalkboard.
"Aye Teach, I have my own time zone to plunder..."
