Name: Ariel Avery
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Planet of Origin: Earth
Occupation:
Student, aspiring photographer
Physical Description:
Ariel stands at 5'6", and has blonde hair t
hat falls past her shoulders. It can either be straightened or very curly and she sometimes pulls it back or into a bun. Her blue eyes can burn fiercely or are mostly sparkling with innocence. Her smiles are bright and contagious, and she looks at the world with a curious look in her eyes. When she's disgusted or just doesn't like something, her nose scrunches up and she frowns. Whenever she's sad and crying, she resembles a puppy that looks like its been kicked. Ari's arms are slender, and she doesn't appear very physically strong. She also has an opaque tattoo of three red hearts on her cheek and a tattoo of black wings on one of her fingers.
For her wardrobe, Ariel sticks with purples, grays, reds, blues, or any color that suits her mood. Ari also likes to wear the color blue, as it matches her eyes. When the weather's warm, she puts on tank tops. Her outfits always consist of jeans or a skirt. She's almost wearing a hat, earrings, and a ring that someone sent her for her fifteenth birthday. She likes wearing sneakers and even flats when she feels like it. Ariel collects rubber band bracelets of all different colors and wears them on her wrist with hair ties as well. Another clothing item she likes to collect is ballgowns or dresses from any time period and any color. When she wants to go outside and take photographs she wears jeans and an old t-shirt with sneakers, complete with a hat.
Personality:
Upon first glance, Ariel is hyper and compassionate. She can skip around humming under her breath, carrying her camera like it's the most precious thing in the world-which, to her, it is. She loves to approach people and start talking to them, wanting to make a new friend. She hates seeing people sad and immediately reaches out a hand to squeeze one of their hands and offers a hug or a shoulder to cry on. After photography, her most favorite thing to do is make people laugh and smile, even if she ends up making a fool out of herself in the process. She thrives on smiles, and says it's her soul's food. Ari's hugs are tight and warm, and she pours love into each one, hugging whoever it is like she'll never let go. If you want a friend who acts like she's hyped up on candy all the time and loves until it hurts, then she's the one to go to. And she does eat a lot of sugar, especially chocolate. She loves chocolate.
Ari's number one favorite thing to do is slip on an old t-shirt that she doesn't really use anymore, jeans, and worn out sneakers with a hat then go outside with her camera. She loves to photograph anything and everything, especially people and nature. But she never takes pictures of people without their permission, and sometimes sells her pictures for a couple of dollars. When it comes to nature, she'll disappear into the woods for hours taking pictures of trees, birds, and any animals she finds. She also has many pictures of strange flowers she finds and even phone booths. The wall in her room is covered with photos and collages she makes. Her most treasured picture is of her mother, whom she hasn't seen since she was little. But a random photographer took that one.
She is extremely naive, believing that one day she will meet someone who knows where her mother is and will take Ariel and her father to her. Also, she has a habit of looking for the good in people, believing that they can change. Ariel also believes that somewhere out there, there is a soul mate for her. She is also very accepting, and doesn't judge because of personality and appearance. Ari loves all people no matter what gender they are or what gender they feel like. She doesn't judge a book by its cover and waits until she actually knows them to decide what she thinks of them. Ariel likes to ask anyone for a picture, simply because they look good no matter what they're wearing and she thinks everyone is beautiful.
When angered or threatened, Ariel is no longer hyper or sweet-she's fierce. She's also more likely to say the first thing that comes to mind, which can be a very bad thing. She'll kick and scratch, and mouth off to anyone in her way. Ariel can also be cold and rude when she isn't in a good mood. It takes an hour or two walk to calm down, or she'll shut herself inside. She's also bitter due to not knowing who her mother was, having living with her father. Also, when she wants to be, she can be very stubborn. When she wants something, she'll work hard to get it and won't give up.
History:
Once upon a time, there was a girl who had just turned eighteen. She had perfect blonde hair and the nicest clothes, and a very wealthy family. The girl was to be married to a man who was next in line to be the head of his family. Then his old father died, and he was the eldest. He used lots of money to buy the girl, whose name is Ella, a beautiful engagement ring. Well Ella couldn't refuse, not in front of all the party guests and her parents. No, she had to graciously accept and plaster a happy smile on her face. The guests clapped, her mother kissed her cheek with tears in her eyes, and her father shook hands with her fiance while calling him "son." Ella's smile faltered a bit, but no one saw. Except for her best friend, Kaden Avery. He comforted her, and took her tears away. It was that night she realized that she loved him, ever since she had met him. Would her parents get in the way of that? They vowed to love each other forever, and that no one would get between them.
Ella asked her mother what would happen if she loved someone else, hypothetically. Her mother laughed, thinking that it was ridiculous. "You're already engaged, dear. Besides, Alexander loves you. Even if you were in love with someone else, you couldn't break his heart could you?" Ella laughed with her mother to make everything seem normal. That night, they met in the garden. Kaden had a car ready and Ella was all packed up and ready to go. She threw her engagement ring into the fountain and they were long gone by the time the sun came up. No one knew where they had gone and they stayed in a little hotel. They found a little church and had enough money to get married, and the wedding guests were sworn to secrecy. But everything else was perfectly normal, and the two lovers were glowing with happiness. A friend let them stay in her house for the night, and it was on their wedding night that they consummated their marriage. A few weeks later, Ella was pregnant. The doctors informed her it was a girl after a few months later.
Unfortunately, their romance which had lasted only so long, was ended. Another friend of theirs had slipped their location to Ella's parents. The two were torn away, but Ella refused to sign any divorce papers. When the nine months of pregnancy were up, she gave birth to a baby girl that had her mother's hair and her father's blue eyes. She named the baby Ariel, and loved her very much. Her parents let her keep Ariel until she was four years old, then forced her to give her up for adoption. A little Ariel stared at the beautiful lady who had brought her into the world, wondering what was going on. Ella signed the papers, trying not to look at her baby girl until it was done. She picked Ari up, placing her on her lap. "My little girl," she whispered. "Mommy will see you again someday, okay? When you're all grown up." Ariel tried very hard to imprint those words in her brain, her little heart vowing that she would never forget that promise. And she never did. Ella kissed her little girl on the head, set her down on the floor, and then left with one last glance back. With a promising smile on her face, she drove away.
When Ariel was seven years old, she got into her first fight. One of the older kids had insulted her mother, calling her a not-so-nice name. Ari, fierce as a cat, pounced on him. She kicked and bit and scratched, and they never said anything again. Having time out was worth it. She grew up tamer, and was very sweet. But by the time she was eleven...she had lost hope that she would be adopted. The younger kids were cuter, and young couples often wanted small children. Then a very nice man came to the orphanage. Ariel watched him curiously, as he had blue eyes just like hers. He introduced himself as Kaden Avery, and told the woman in charge that he was Ariel's father. Hope swelled in her heart, and then all the papers were signed. She hugged him tightly, not wanting to let go. Well, she had to let go so he could drive. But even then she was leaning her head on his shoulder.
When she was in middle school, her father encouraged her to have a hobby. For the life of her, she couldn't collect rocks or stamps. Those were too boring, and she burnt everything she cooked and ruined everything she drew. When she was thirteen years old, her father decided to try again one more time, and bought her a camera. She looked at him, then the camera. Then she was outside, cross legged on the grass and figuring how to work it out. She spent the whole day outside, which was a Saturday, taking pictures of anything and everything. Ariel fell in love with the camera that day, and was determined to find her mother and take a picture of her. She got through middle school, even making money with pictures she took.
As four years went by, Ari covered her wall with pictures and tried to get information on her mother. She's a senior in high school, and her pictures are starting to get well known. Her father is very proud of her, and she's starting to take notice of weird things going around. Ariel is determined to take a picture.
Addition Medical Information:
Ariel is allergic to peanuts and sometimes has sneezing fits if she accidentally eats one. But other than that, there's really nothing.
RP Sample: Snap. Ariel let out a long sigh, and stared up at the scarlet feathered bird in frustration. "Is there a reason why you keep on moving? Do you like frustrating me?" The bird chirped innocently, gazing down at her. The blonde ran a free hand through her hair, then pretended to mess with her camera. Her blue eyes shot up-and the bird was no longer paying attention to her. While the beautiful creature was distracted, she raised her camera and snapped a picture of him. He gave her an arrogant puff of the chest, as if asking how dare she take a picture of him. She stuck her tongue out at him-a childish gesture, but no one was there to see. As if accepting his fate, he hopped down from the tree branch he was perched on and flew onto her shoulder. Ariel laughed, stroking his feathers with a finger. He really was beautiful, she decided. Which is why he was the perfect subject. But soon enough she had to wave him away, deciding to find him again another day. Then she moved onto another spot.
As she walked, Ariel went through all the pictures she took that day. A frown tugged at her lips. I need a picture of a flower, she realized. Then I can go home. Her worn out sneakers were starting to bug her, but she couldn't go home yet. She had to stop immediately, because she almost stepped on a blue one, like her eyes. A smile replaced the frown, and she backed up so she wouldn't step on it, getting down on one knee. This one won't keep moving, she thought. Snap. A perfect picture to top them all off, and she continued walking. But then she wondered where on her wall to put it....Then she remembered her father had been asking for a picture, so she would give him the picture of the flower and all the other things. Except for the bird. I'll keep that one, she told herself. He wouldn't want me to give his beauty away. The thought of the scarlet bird giving her a look made her laugh, and she was glad that no one was around to hear the sound. But she rebuffed herself for caring. It shouldn't matter if people stare. If you cared if they did, yo wouldn't be wearing an old t-shirt, jeans, and shoes that make your feet hurt. So she kept on walking, chin held up defiantly.
She was halfway home, passing through a park. Ari let her thoughts sweep her away, though she was paying enough attention to know where she was going. She wondered what there would be for dinner, and if her father was sitting on the doorstep again. He always worried that she would disappear off the face of the earth, just like her mother did. She said that she would see me again when I'm grown up. Ariel clenched the bottom of her shirt, balling it into a fist. Isn't seventeen grown up? Aren't I an adult already? Her father always told her not to be in a hurry to grow up, but he didn't know about the promise. Ariel didn't want to tell him about it...because then they would both be frustrated, waiting. She didn't want him to get her hopes up like she did. She didn't want him to be just as anxious as he was sad. By the time she snapped out of her thoughts, she was home. Just like she knew he would, there he was on the doorstep. He had cooked her favorite, spaghetti and meatballs. There was an anxious look in his eyes that was fading away, not quick enough because she could still see it. They went inside with his arm around her. I won't leave, she wanted to say. But saying that wouldn't be fair. Because when she grew up, she had to. I have to leave the nest one day...just like that scarlet bird had to.
