Planet of Origin: Earth
Occupation: Teacher
Physical Description: Clara has medium length brown hair and brown eyes. She stands at 5`1 in height, although she often wears shoes with a heel to make herself taller. Only by an inch or so, mind. She weighs about 110lbs. She's very fond of wearing skirts with leggings or tights underneath. She also rather likes wearing dresses. Her hair is loose most of the time, but if she's doing something important, she ties her hair back, usually in a high ponytail, to keep it out of the way. She's rather fond of pink and purple colour wise, and she also rather likes leather jackets, although she won’t wear them that often. Shoe wise she usually wears ankle boots, although obviously that’s not the only shoe type in her wardrobe. It’s just her personal preference. She likes flowery patterns and on occasion will wear something flowery, like a dress or a skirt.
Personality: Clara is a very curious person. In fact, curiosity is practically her middle name. She's quite clever, and she's often more scared than she lets on, which has been pointed out by quite a few people. She's quite cautious sometimes, although there are other times where she's eager to jump straight into adventure. She's a born adventurer and she's dreamed of travelling her entire life. She's a little - okay, more than a little - bossy sometimes, but she often doesn't mean to be. it just comes naturally 90% of the time.. Clara has a very kind heart, despite how she might sometimes act. She's very stubborn and very determined. Once her mind gets set on something, it's very hard to change it. She's quite independent, although deep down, having someone or something to lean on has always been comforting to her. She's good at thinking outside the box and she's very observant. Sometimes, Clara doesn't think things through as well as she should. Although she tries to be careful about what she does, sometimes she doesn't think as much about what she says and she can come across as rude. She doesn't often mean to, though. Clara is the type of person that asks a lot of questions. She just likes knowing things. She’s also very good at arguing her point when she needs to, because despite her height, she’s very feisty and can come across as quite scary if she gets mad enough – which isn’t really that often.
She might put on a brave front most of the time, but there are times where she loses her nerve. She tries not to let this show too much; while Clara isn’t exactly ashamed of being scared, she doesn’t want to come across as weak. Despite what she often says, Clara can be a bit of a control freak at times. It takes her a while to come to grips with certain situations, and she can’t just adjust instantly to everything. It takes her a bit of time, and maybe a slight push, to get back to normal after a big change. Clara isn’t as self-confident as she might seem; she has a lot more doubts than people realize. One of the virtues Clara has that she most values is loyalty. She puts people she cares about above anyone and everyone else, and although she tries to help everyone – people who deserve it, that is – people she loves and cares about always come first, no matter what. She has a very motherly nature, and she gets very protective over those she loves. She can be quite flirty at times, although usually it’s just that – harmless flirting.
History: Clara Oswald was born in Lancashire, England, to Ellie and Dave Oswald. When she was a young child, she accidentally kicked a ball at the Doctor’s head in a park. At the time, of course, she had no idea who he was. Several years after this, she met the Doctor again, when he was sitting on the swings. Despite the fact that her mother told her not to talk to strange men, she decided to talk to him anyway. He said that he’d lost a friend – which turned out to be her from the future – and he wasn’t sure if he was going to find her again. Clara revealed that she was always losing things – her school bag, her gran, her mojo and her best pencil. She said that all she had to do was go to a quiet place, and think about it for a while, and then she’d remember where she put it. She also said that she thought the idea of destiny was rubbish. Her worst fear as a child was getting lost. She did get lost one day, on a beach in Blackpool, but her mother found her again, comforting Clara by saying that wherever she was, she would always find her.
Clara lost her mother when she was around 16 or 17 years old. She was left devastated, since she and her mother were very close. She kept her mother’s book, 101 Places To See, her mother’s ring, and the leaf that caused her mother and father to meet. The leaf blew down from its branch and hit Dave Oswald, her father, in the face, causing him to stumble into the road. Ellie pulled him out of the road just before he was hit by a car, and the rest is history. She still refers to the leaf as “the most important leaf in human history.”
Clara had a very...poor knowledge of the internet, not knowing how to connect it, and so she called the number that she got from ‘the woman in the shop’. That number turned out to be the Doctor’s number, and he walked her through getting the internet connected. The password for it was rycbar123, and Clara made it into ‘Run You Clever Boy and Remember, 1, 2, 3’, so that she could remember it. She said this under her breath while still on the phone to the Doctor, and that’s how he knew it was her. , He instantly got into the TARDIS and went to talk to Clara. To his dismay, it seemed that she didn’t have any memory of him, despite the fact that he had met her twice before. Once as Oswin Oswald, who turned out to be a Dalek, and once as Clara Oswin Oswald, a Governess from Victorian London. Clara was very cautious about the Doctor at first, but when he saved her life, she reconsidered . Since she ended up clicking on the wifi being used by The Great Intelligence to harvest humans, a ‘Spoonhead’ appeared, disguised as a character from one of Clara’s books, and tried to upload her to the data cloud. The Doctor managed to save her, however. Clara was very cautious about the Doctor at first, but when he saved her life, she reconsidered.
She woke up to find him outside, guarding her. He’d taken her messages and told her that she was safe now, so she could go back to sleep. When Clara realized he was planning on staying there all night, she decided to go down and speak to him. They were having a mostly-normal conversation at first, but then ‘The Great Intelligence’ started causing problems, such as making a plane crash. The Doctor managed to get Clara into the TARDIS – after a slight argument about it and Clara getting the completely wrong idea – and they landed on the crashing plane. It turned out that the Doctor had no idea how to fly a plane, but he managed to stop it crashing anyway. Once he rescued her from being uploaded - again – the Doctor left for a while, but came back later to ask Clara to travel with him. She told him to come back the next day. When he asked why, she said it was because “Tomorrow I might say yes.”
Sure enough, the next day, Clara was waiting, since she’d clearly already made up her mind. As soon as she heard the TARDIS, she started grinning and instantly got up. From there, the adventures began. Their first adventure was to the Festival of Offerings. They explored the marketplace for a while, and afterwards, they went to watch the festival. Clara met a young girl who’s name is Mary, and she comforts her when Mary thinks she’ll get the song she’s meant to sing wrong. Clara tells her about her worst fear, and how she got lost when she was younger. She explains that everyone gets scared, and that she believes that Mary will get the song right, and that everything will be fine. It shows how good she is with children. When the Mummy took her, Clara and the Doctor rescued her, but Clara had to sacrifice her mother’s ring – one of her most precious items – in order to do so. She takes Mary back to safety while the Doctor faces the Old God, and then she went back for him. She had to sacrifice another sacred thing – the leaf that caused her parents to meet. At the end of the adventure, the Doctor dropped her off back home. She asked him why he was at her mother’s funeral, why she saw him, and he said that she reminded him of someone. She told him that she would travel with him, but that she was not going to compete with a ghost. He gave her back her mother’s ring, and then she departed.
The Doctor and Clara land on a sinking ship, and the Doctor manages to stop the submarine imploding, and "land" safely. Clara passes out as the ship lurches, and when she wakes up, she's in a room with the Doctor and the captain, with a jacket wrapped around her. They realize that there's an Ice Warrior on board, named Skaldak, and the Doctor tries to talk to him, but he gets electrified by another man on the submarine. It's on said submarine that Clara discovers that the TARDIS translates everything in her head, since they are actually talking Russian with the captain and his men. They wind up sending Clara to talk to Skaldak, and at first she does well, with the Doctor guiding her, but then things go a bit downhill. She gets trapped in a room with him, and the Doctor has to come and get her out. Thankfully, she's safe and sound without even a scratch. Clara manages to convince Skaldak that he doesn't need to destroy the Earth, by reminding him that sons and mother and daughters will die. She also reminds him of his own daughter and how they sang songs of the red snows. When Skaldak gets picked up, Clara hugs the Doctor, and comments. "Saved the world, then? That's what we do." They set off soon after.
On their next adventure, the Doctor and Clara visit an old house in 1974, with Professor Alec and his assistant, Emma Grayling. When they were looking at the pictures of the ghost, Clara pointed out that she was always exactly in the same position in the photos. At first, Clara is hesitant to go exploring through the house to look for the ghost, but then the Doctor manages to convince her, after she makes him dare her to go. They go to the music room to see if the ghost is there, and Clara asks the Doctor if he feels like he's being watched, and tells him what the feeling is like. She also turns around several times, as if she senses something else in the room, only to see nothing there, although Clara admits that she thinks that the ghost is in the room with them. When they're walking back through the corridors, and they hear a banging noise, Clara is obviously scared, and she says despite this that the Doctor doesn't need to hold her hand. When he says he isn't, lightning lights up the house and they see a shape in the corridor, causing them both to run downstairs. Clara says that Alec's feelings for Emma "stick out like a big chin". When the Doctor and Clara travel right to the start of the human race, until the end, Clara gets rather upset and says that humans must all be ghosts to the Doctor, and she doesn't seem convinced when he tells her that they're "the only mystery worth solving." Clara gets frustrated when the Doctor gets left in the pocket universe, so she goes and manages to convince the TARDIS to fly into the pocket universe and get him. She manages to do this twice, once to get the Doctor and the other to get the creature out of the pocket universe, in order to take said creature to it's "other half", after the Doctor discovers that it's "not a ghost story, it's a love story."
Some time after that, the Doctor attempts to teach Clara how to fly the TARDIS, but someone attempts to salvage the TARDIS while it's in basic mode, meaning the shields are down. The people trying to salvage it throw something into the TARDIS, with "big friendly button" written on the side, in order to get it. The Doctor gets out of the TARDIS, except Clara ends up trapped inside. She ends up wandering through the TARDIS on her own, with some kind of creature chasing her. The Doctor manages to get her back, and she punches him on the arm for having "zombie creatures" on the TARDIS. He, Clara and their "guests" walk through the TARDIS together, trying to get to the centre of it so they can fix what's happened to her. However, on the way, they find out that the creatures are themselves from the future, and that if they touch each other, that's what they become. It winds up being just the Doctor and Clara. They get nearer to the centre of the TARDIS, but the TARDIS tries to get them away, attempting to scare them off. The Doctor starts ranting at Clara, asking her if she's a trick or a trap, and she seems genuinely confused. They get to the centre of the TARDIS, which has already exploded. When Clara steps up and holds the Doctor's hand, to comfort him, he sees that "Big Friendly Button" is burned onto her hand, he realizes that he can save the TARDIS. He goes back to the console room, in order for him to go back in time to stop it all happening. He discovers that Clara knows his name, that she read it in a book in the library. She later forgets this. When time is rewritten/unwritten, he asks Clara if she feels safe and she says yes. The Doctor says that anything could happen to her, since she's running away with a mad man in a box, and she says that's what she's counting on.
It's revealed that, after this, Clara and the Doctor went to investigate a place called Sweetville, posing as a married couple, but they both ended up trapped there. They tried to give the Doctor the plague thing known to others as the "Crimson Horror", but Jenny finds him and they manage to get him back to normal. They find Clara, since she survived the process, and she was placed in a glass cabinet/huge glass jar, and she seemed to be frozen. The Doctor restored her, and when the Doctor tries to figure out what's going on, Clara points out that there's a chimney that doesn't blow smoke, and the Doctor realizes that Mr Sweet and Miss Gillyflower are going to poison the air. The Doctor, Vastra, Jenny, Strax and Clara manage to stop Mr Sweet and Miss Gillyflower, alone with Ada, and when Clara gets into the TARDIS, she says she's had enough of Victorian values. The Doctor says she's the boss, and Clara looks amused. Jenny and Vastra ask the Doctor how Clara's alive, since they saw her die in Victorian London, but he doesn't say anything because he doesn't know. Clara gets home to the Maitland's house, where she sees that Angie and Artie, the children she looks after, have found pictures of her in all different times, so she eventually agrees to let the Doctor take them on an adventure.
On the adventure that the Doctor takes Angie, Artie and Clara on, they go to the biggest and best amusement park in the galaxy. However, it closed down years ago, and they are discovered by a platoon, and later they go along with a man named Webley, who shows them a room full of statues and such. Artie says he's a chess player, and when they follow Webley through, he reveals a Cyberman at the chess board. Artie and the Cyberman play chess. The Cyberman is being controlled by a man called "Porridge." Clara talks to Porridge and finds out that he fought the cybermen. He said they had to wipe out the Tyberian Galaxy as well as the cybermen. The cyberman takes both Angie and Artie. Clara is assigned as the leader of the platoon for the day, while the Doctor tries to rescue Angie and Artie. It's revealed that Webley is being turned into a cyberman. Clara took the activator that would destroy the planet, but the captain attempts to implode it since it's from her command that the bomb activates. Before the captain (Alice) can implode the planet, however, she's shot by a cyberman. The Doctor explains that, in order to give him control of his mind when Mr Clever has taken over, Clara simply has to slap him. The Doctor manages to get Mr Clever out of his head, and the cybermen stop. Porridge, who turns out to be the old emperor, asks Clara to marry him as they get of the planet. She says no, however, and the Doctor takes her, Artie and Angie home.
Clara gets called to a "meeting" of sorts, that she has to be "asleep" in order to attend, along with Strax, Jenny and Vastra, along with River Song, whom Clara has never met before. She's given a cup of tea, and the others tell her that the one secret the Doctor keeps from everyone is his name. Everyone except River Song. A man gave Vastra some coordinates to a planet where the Doctor's grave is. River interrupts the meeting because they're under attack, and she wakes everyone up. Clara wakes to find the Doctor in her house, and she tells him everything. They go to Trenzalore, the planet with his grave on, and it's discovered that River and Clara are mentally linked. The Whisper Men, as they are called, are working with a man called doctor Simian, who wants to destroy the Doctor's timeline, which is what they find at his grave. Simian steps into the Doctor's timeline, causing the Doctor to start dying. Clara realizes what it is she has to do, since the Doctor has met her twice before; once as Oswin Oswald, and once as Clara Oswin Oswald. So she steps into his timeline, saying one thing before she does so. "Run. Run, you clever boy. And remember me." Which is what he had been told by both Oswin and Clara Oswin. Copies of Clara are scattered all through his timeline, ultimately saving his life but leaving her trapped in his timeline. The Doctor goes into his timeline to rescue her, once everything else is restored. Clara sees all 11 of his faces, and someone else is there, his back to them. Before Clara can ask more questions about him, though, she passes out, and the Doctor carries her out of his timeline.
Clara later left her job as a nanny, and instead went to work as a teacher. One day, when her class was over, another teacher came running in, saying that there had been a phone call from “her Doctor”. Clara just smiled and asked if the Doctor had given an address. She went to said address on a motorbike, and rode into the TARDIS, closing the doors behind her with a snap of her fingers. Originally, she and the Doctor were going to go for cocktails on the moon, but they ended up being picked up and taken to the National Gallery, where they were met by Kate, the daughter of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart. Later, when the Doctor went back to meet two of his past selves, Clara travelled with Kate to the Black Archive, which she had apparently been to once before, since she already had securite access. Kate turned out to be a Zygon who was using her image, and Clara used Jack Harkness’ vortex manipulator to get away. She met the Tenth Doctor and the War Doctor. When the War Doctor left, to blow up Gallifrey, she, the Tenth Doctor and the Eleventh Doctor joined him, and she gave them the idea to rewrite time, saving Gallifrey.
Needing a boyfriend on Christmas day, since she made one up to her family, Clara called the Doctor and asked him to come and pose as her boyfriend, as well as help her cook Christmas dinner. Instead of that, they ended up going to the Papal Mainframe. Before going on board, the Doctor made Clara swallow a holographic projector, which generated holographic clothes around her, since attending church with actual clothes on wasn’t something people did. Tasha Lem, assumed as an old “flame” of the Doctor’s, sent them down to the planet below, which turned out to be Trenzalore, which they didn’t find out until later. Clara met a weeping angel on the planet, and the Doctor managed to get them away, although they did end up going back. Once the Doctor discovered that the Time Lords were trying to get a message through from the other universe they were trapped in, plus the fact that the planet was Trenzalore, he sent Clara away. But Clara clung to the outside of the TARDIS, and it ended up taking 300 years – for the Doctor, that is – for her to get back. The Doctor and Clara were later invited back onto the Papal Mainframe, which was a trap, since the Daleks had made everyone on board into puppets three days earlier. They were sent back to the planet, and they went to the TARDIS. Clara’s turkey was done by this point, and – even though he had promised not to send her away again – the Doctor took Clara back home, this time making her stay there. Clara listened to the story of how her grandmother met her grandfather, and shortly after, the TARDIS came back. When Clara entered, however, it wasn’t the Doctor flying it, but Tasha Lem. Tasha took Clara back to Trenzalore, where the Doctor had been for hundreds of years, and Clara went to see him. When the Daleks descended and demanded the Doctor’s surrender, he told Clara to stay put. She managed to convince the Time Lords to give the Doctor some extra regenerations, which they actually did. She went back to the TARDIS to find the phone hanging out. She put the phone back and entered the TARDIS, finding the Doctor, back to normal. She watched tearfully as he gave his speech, and as he regenerated into the Twelfth Doctor. She seemed rather shocked, naturally, when the Twelfth Doctor appeared, and she looked a little worried when he asked her if she knew how to fly the TARDIS.
It took Clara quite a while to get used to the Twelfth Doctor; they crashed in prehistoric times and were chased by a dinosaur that ended up swallowing the TARDIS. They relocated to Victorian London, where they met Vastra, Strax and Jenny. The new Doctor passed out – since he had just regenerated. Vastra chided Clara, implying that Clara was only travelling with the Doctor because of how young he looked. Clara instantly defended herself, saying that she wasn’t remotely interested in pretty young men. She and the others left separately from the Doctor, who had long since disappeared. They found him, and he told them that the dinosaur had been killed. Then, he vanished to investigate the mystery. The next morning, Clara found a newspaper advert that called her the Impossible Girl, which of course only the Doctor had ever done. She met him at a restaurant that turned out to be an android one. Clara and the Doctor were taken down to the restaurant "larder" so that the droids there could harvest their organs. After being separated from the Doctor whilst trying to escape, the Half-Face Man interrogated Clara, threatening to kill her, but remembering what happened when she had unsuccessfully threatened her rebellious students, Clara practically dared the Half-Face Man to kill her, calling him on his lie and announcing that if the new Doctor was really the Doctor, he'd save her, which he did. Clara, Jenny, Vastra and Strax are left to deal with the other droids, and they end up holding their breath to remain undetected. Of course, they can’t do this for long, but the droids deactivate because the Half-Face Man dies. After this, the Doctor and the TARDIS vanish. Clara dresses in her normal clothes, although she seems to think that the Doctor left her behind, and when he returns, she instantly runs out to the TARDIS. At first, she’s hesitant to keep travelling with him, but after a phone call from the Eleventh Doctor telling her to help him, Clara decides to do so, and they go to get coffee in Glasgow.
When the Doctor next arrives, it’s three weeks later, in Clara’s school, just after she asked Danny Pink, a new teacher, out on a date. Whilst on the TARDIS, the Doctor asks Clara if he’s a good man, but she says she doesn’t know. They board a ship called the Aristotle. There’s a Dalek on board that needs repairing, and the Doctor names it Rusty. The Doctor, Clara and a few of the people on board the ship are made smaller in order to get inside the Dalek and repair it. However, when the Doctor does repair the Dalek, it goes back to normal, and at first tries to kill everyone on board the Aristotle. However, the Doctor links with the Dalek, showing his hatred of Rusty’s species, causing the Dalek to go against it’s own species, allowing the Doctor and Clara to get out of the Dalek.
Their next adventure was when Clara asked to go and meet Robin Hood, who they discovered is a real person rather than just a myth or a story. The Sherriff of Nottingham is working with some robots disguised as nights, hoping to take over England, but it turns out the robots are looking for the Promised Land and trying to give their ship enough fuel to leave, which is what the Half-Face Man and his droids were looking for. The robots and the Sherriff were defeated by Robin, Clara and the Doctor. Later, after Clara’s date with Danny, the Doctor picks her up and they were originally going to travel back in time to the point where she had the nightmare that, apparently, every person has had; a hand reaching out from under the bed, and grabbing the dreamer’s ankle. However, Clara ends up thinking about Danny, and they go back in time to his childhood. After visiting Danny, or rather, Rupert, Clara gets the Doctor to take her back to the date with Danny, since it went so horrible, and she tries to fix things, but it doesn’t work so well. While she does that, the Doctor goes and rescues a man named Orson Pink, who looks suspiciously like Danny, hence Clara’s surprise when she meets him. Whilst the Doctor is unconscious, Clara goes back to a moment in the Doctor’s childhood, and she tells him that fear can make someone brave and kind. She re enters the TARDIS and asks the Doctor what would happen if there was nothing under the bed, nothing behind the door. She asks, "What if the big bad Time Lord doesn't want to admit he's just afraid of the dark?" the Doctor drops her off back home.
The next time she sees him, they seem to have been recruited, along with two others, to rob a bank. However, it proves to be a difficult job. The person who recruited them, the Architect, turned out to be the Doctor, who got a call from Madam Karabraxos (which later gets erased from his memory, so he and the others can perform the bank heist), a woman who he gave his number to some time in the futur. She tells him to rescue the Teller from the bank, which was the exact reason they were sent there, along with mutant human-shapeshifter Saibra and augmented human Psi. Next time the Doctor sees Clara, he poses as a caretaker because there’s an alien robot in the school, which he later gets rid of. Clara seems annoyed by the fact that Danny and the Doctor don’t get along, even after she comes clean to Danny about her adventures with the Doctor. The Doctor took one of Clara's students, Courtney Woods, on a trip in the TARDIS to send the deactivated Skovox Blitzer drifting in space, while Clara shared an evening with Danny.

RP Sample: Travelling with the Doctor was the best thing Clara Oswald had ever done. But the problem was, being his...’companion’, she had to put up with his constant disappearances. He’d sometimes leave her alone to explore by herself, and while she did love exploring, it got tiring trying to keep track of him. So, after a while, she just gave up. If she caught him walking away, she’d go with him. If she just turned around and he’d vanished, she’d just wander around a bit, try not to get lost, and usually he’d come and find her. Today was one of those days. Unfortunately, this planet seemed rather different from the others and being alone here made Clara slightly worried. It was a big place; even just the marketplace she was currently standing in was huge. It’d be far easier to get lost here. Great. Just great.
"Do you really have to wander off on me? Every time?" Clara muttered to herself, rolling her eyes. Typical. She couldn't even remember the name of the planet they were on. So she just characterized it as 'some planet somewhere'. It was a pretty place, for sure. Clara ended up wandering around the markets, trying to keep herself out of trouble. Typical. Where is that alien when you need him? She thought. Getting into trouble, no doubt. She answered her own question.
Someone from the market offered her a piece of fruit out of a basket. It appeared to be free fruit. Clara took one, nodded her thanks, and bit into it hesitantly, fully expecting the worst. However, it was surprisingly nice. She munched on the alien fruit happily, trying to decide if it tasted more like chocolate or more like pancakes. She sighed, wondering if Earth would ever come up with anything like this. They've probably already tried, she reminded herself. They'd tried a lot of things by now. She took another bite of the fruit, raising her eyebrows in surprise when the taste seemed to change. It was more like Earth fruit this time. It took her a moment to process, but Clara knew she'd definitely had worse - she couldn't forget that food thing she'd tried on her first ever adventure with the Doctor (well, okay, first adventure off of Earth) - so she let it slide.
She finished eating the fruit and brushed off her hands. Still no sign of the Doctor. The brunette huffed, running a hand through her hair. Where would the Doctor go? Think about it. But the downside of being on a completely different planet was that she had no idea where everything was. Well, I'll just have to explore without him then. He'll find me. He always does. Clara set off walking, a slight skip in her step. Excitement shone in her eyes, like a small child being taken to an ice cream shop. She loved exploring new places; it was always fun.
Clara was just thinking about how peaceful it was around here, when a loud scream sounded out, making her freeze on the spot. She groaned quietly. I just went and jinxed it, didn't I? When the scream sounded again, Clara took off running towards the sound, wondering what in the world was going on now. Trouble, of course.
