Savor stopped when they reached the disease prevention part of his lab and smiled at her. "Simple. They are targeting people with above average intellects now which means you were on their hit list. They likely plan to take over and repeat the procedure they did to my home world to Earth. Since I would rather not let that happen, I've been working on a few things to even the playing field in humanity's defense although they are not quite done yet. One of the things is a cure to all earth bacteria, germs and viruses and diseases. "
Savor pulled out a vial and handed it to her. "The cure to all of Earth's diseases is inside this vial. Use it wisely." Savor led her to another section of his lab and stopped. This had his experiments based on the myths of Earth so as to see if their abilities could be replicated. A holographic keyboard appeared in front of him and a collar in a glass cylinder rose from the ground.
"This is an experiment I made based off of the Earth Myth of the Siren, I think it might work."
Targeting people with above average intellects? Then that meant that many people she respected were likely targets. Perhaps she was just at the wrong place at the wrong time – because certainly she didn't rank that high on their list. She was a genius, sure, but what about her teachers? “That means others are going to die? Why are they targeting Earth? It isn't even an intergalactic player. We're isolationists.”
And now she was handed the vial with the cure to all of Earth's diseases. She blinked. “I'm not sure if we're ready for this,” she said, cautiously, handing the vial back.
“A Siren?” she asked, staring at him. She had to read mandatory literature when she was in school, and the Odyssey had been one such piece of literature. “You think it might work? It's a myth for a reason...”
"True, but your planet is similar to mine except with less gravity and currently is not as advanced. Likely it could be a condition of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Hopefully they were just after me to finish off my race. " Savor took the vial and put it in a fold of his outfit and asked her. "Care to help me test that invention? Been thinking of an invention to give to you for keeps that you might actually enjoy having and want to use. How would you like to grow stronger physically and mentally? I can teach you more than most of your teachers, due to my knowledge of alien tech. " Savor did seem tired, almost about to yawn. For he had been up for a week watching her and keeping her safe from those aliens so she did not have to worry about that. Of course it had left him sleep deprived and a bit exhausted.
Help him test the invention that would turn her into a siren? She was quiet for a moment, turning it over in her mind. He looked exhausted, which she knew she could use to her invention. Still, the plan felt awfully sneaky to her, and if there was something she didn't like, it was deception. “Yes, I'll help you test it,” she said, taking the collar gingerly from the cylinder.
She put it on her neck. Zoe wasn't sure what to do now, or how to use it. Or if she wanted to leave just yet – she was a little swayed by his offer to teach her. “I don't know,” she said. “I think I should leave. I can't help you.”
Savor pushed a button on the console and activated the device. The collar was now operational and might make the voice of Zoe's voice mesmerizing and relaxing to him. Savor yawned some and asked her. "Do you really want to go back to teachers who probably aren't at your intellectual level?" Savor thought about it and considered how he would do this. Zoe said she was a mathematical genius and an astrophysicist. "Now. I've turned on the device. All you have to do is talk or sing." A bed rose out of the ground as Savor talked, as he had pushed another button.

Zoe stared at him evenly. Did she? She had always felt impatience at the teachers. They taught the slowest pace – which, to be fair, wasn't at all slow – but the girl was two steps ahead. And this guy – who she still didn't know the name of, or even why he was trying to help her and not some other genius – did pose a pretty offer. But under his tutelage, she would have to learn to fight. Zoe wasn't a fighter, although she had taken a class or two in self-defense.
She looked over to the bed, and then back to the man. He looked friendly enough – except for the whole kidnapping her and forcing her into battle with a scary robot thing. “It's not that easy,” she said distrustfully, crossing her arms and glaring at him. “What are you hiding from me?”
"The aliens that wiped out my planet might be coming after me on a regular basis, and you for the reason you have been off planet are also a target. For the past week I have been hunting down and eliminating the aliens right as they try to kill you. The sessions of elimination leave me exhausted. But I've been up an entire week protecting you and keeping you safe. Finally I got tired of doing it from the side lines and decided to inform you about what you were up against so you might actually have a chance."
Savor had not wanted to spill that information to her. Yet to gain her trust and to ensure she did not run away, this information seemed to be part of the crucial info needed. She did after all need to know about the problem that had to be resolved. Savor now just had to wait, and see if she was going to accept him as her teacher.
She took a deep breath, trying to process all the information coming to her. While she still couldn't fully understand why aliens were coming after her – Zoe Heriot was hardly a threat, after all; she stayed in her room and read and did schoolwork. Still, she had seen the picture he showed her earlier with the creature trying to attack her. “I just don't see what this has to do with you wanting to use me for the Doctor.”
She took the collar off, putting it back in the cylinder. “Listen. I'll stay here, but you have to start by telling me your name. Okay? Let's just go back to the beginning. I'm Zoe Heriot.” She held out her hand, waiting for him to introduce himself.
Savor nodded a bit pleased she would be staying. This meant he could put the fanatical search of the Doctor and his other plans on hold at least for now anyway. The plans did not need to be overdone or over complicated for right now he could enjoy her company. So he decided to make her an offer. "How would you like to learn to defend yourself, and be able to protect other people as well? I can offer you that, if you would accept me as your instructor. Of course my lessons will not by any means be easy for you but once you prevail you will come out stronger than any other human on this planet."
Savor Night? She had never heard of a name like that, although that didn't necessarily mean it was a false one. He was, after all, from a different planet. He seemed pleased that she had said yes, although she wasn't sure why. He could have gone and kidnapped someone else. There were plenty of geniuses, and most of them were more willing to comply than she was.
“Yeah,” she said, pulling the collar back around her neck. It made her sound different, and she had never been a fan of her own voice. “Although, I think you should sleep,” she suggested, gesturing towards the bed. “I could sing you a lullaby, but I think they're foolish. If a child isn't sleepy, what would singing do?”
Savor mesmerized by her voice laid down, but try as he might could not get into a sound sleep. Every two minutes he awoke nightmares hitting him like a ton of bricks and not pleasantly either. "What do you do when you try to sleep and can't? I've been plagued with nightmares of what you saw on the video for quite some time now." Savor had been too, and he was fighting the urge to sleep so he did not have to experience them again. He did need rest, her words had told him. True he wanted to sleep, but the nightmares...they just plagued him a lot.
She stood still, awkward as he asked for her advice. She hadn't had a nightmare since she was a small child – she could remember her father coming in to comfort her. Zoe had left her home for the private academies when she was five. “The nightmares I had were about imaginary things,” she said, feeling inadequate. “You saw real and terrible things... I don't know if there is a fix for that, other than time.”
Zoe sighed and put one of her hands on his forehead, putting his hand in hers. “Spi, mladenets moĭ prekrasnyĭ, Bayushki-bayu. Tikho smotrit mesyats yasnyĭ V kolybelʹ tvoyu. Stanu skazyvatʹ ya skazki, Pesenku spoyu; Ty zh dremli, zakryvshi glazki, Bayushki-bayu,” she sang quietly.
Soon thanks to the aid of the calming and blissful music, what had happened was that Savor had fallen asleep, sleeping soundly. He muttered in his sleep... "Lab, give full access priveleges except exit to Zoe..." ...before he went fully asleep and closed his eyes. Finally he was in a restful slumber.
Typical for him to let her explore everything but the exit. Zoe rolled her eyes and withdrew her hand from his forehead, wishing that she had brought at least a change of clothes with her. She left the room, exploring. The collar was still around her neck – if it made him listen to her more, then why would she give it up? It was a pretty decent change to have people listen to her, anyway.
As Zoe explored the base she would come across a place marked with warning signs, and caution and not to enter. The signs were meant so she did not enter that room where Savor had stored the bodies of the creatures since he was still researching them to find a poison or toxin useful against their genetic structure so he could hit them all at once on Earth and then find their home-world and really just take the fight to them there. The AI of the House activated and said to Zoe.
"Entry to this room is forbidden as per orders of Savor. The bodies of your attackers are beyond these doors. Would you wish to have a change of clothes brought from your home to here? I can produce clothing for you with the matter generation chamber inside this place that Savor has installed."
