The Jinn are a secretive and isolationist species. The young of the species are abandoned when they become a certain age and left to fend for themselves. They were once free and roamed the Earth, but that was before the Arabs learned how to make them serve. King Solomon soon caught on and the once proud and great species became little more than powerful and obsequious servants. After the King died, the Jinn escaped, but not without damage. The embittered species formed a council – The Jinn Council.
The Jinn Council observed the actions of the rest of their species. If a Djinn went out of line, the Council would summon the creature and sentence it to death. They have avoided conflict by remaining permanently neutral – although because of politics or because of their overwhelming disinterest in the world around them, no one is certain. The Jinn are well known for their ‘magical’ abilities – taken by their innate ability to control and manipulate energy. They operate on another plane of existence to rid themselves of the stench of humanity.
They are Gods. They hold the power of the universe in their hands, and for years they have been silently manipulating Time with their energy. But now, they realize that to fully reach their potential they must unlock the secrets of the Lords of Time. With that in mind, the Jinn Council decided on a course of action.
Every Time Lord on Earth, and every person traveling with them, has been captured and taken to the Jinn Council’s prison.
Every Djinn, whether under oath of a master or not, has been recalled and their masters or mistresses placed in the prison.
For the first time in the history of the Jinn, the Council has begun preparing for war.
What's this? A totally awesome thread that tries to incorporate every member of this site? Why yes! Yes it is! C: Clearly if you don't want to join you don't have to, but I strongly recommend that you do! 'Cause come on, it'll be fun. There are a few people that we specifically had in mind to be in the thread, but like I said, it's open to everyone and there's certainly always a way to get you involved. After all, where there's a will there's a way! These are the people we were specifically looking at:
Jenny Smith and the Master: If you've got enough time, of course! The two genders are going to be separated, so I don't believe you'll have to worry about too much overlap because I know it can get awkward. ^^' If you're too busy, that's totally fine! Or if you want to bring K-9, that'd be okay. XD
The Fifth Doctor: I volunteered you as the Doctor because you don't have any other characters and we decided that there would only be one version of each Time Lord. We didn't want to exclude you, but if you'd rather not join in, that's fine. c:
Jack Harkness: He would know about the Doctor and he is the head of the most accessible Torchwood group. It makes him a pretty likely target. If you're up for it, that would open up possibilities for the rest of the Torchwood team to be captured.
Amy Pond: While she isn't a companion of the Fifth Doctor, she is still connected with the Time Lords in a significant way - she kind of gave birth to one.
River Song: She'd be a tricky one to catch, but the Jinn would definitely have her down as a person of interest.
Rose Tyler and Claire Paxton: So she's in Turkey right now, but whatever. :D Rose Tyler is obviously connected with the Doctor, as is Amy Pond. Claire Paxton was going to be a companion of the Master, yes?
Rosalyn "Sexy" Snow and The Muse: All right, I admit that I have no idea how we would work this out with Rosalyn, but I think that it would be very interesting to have her perspective. As for the Muse, she's a Time Lady, so there's an automatic interest in her. Also, the Jinn are afraid of singing as a whole species - the Arabs crafted songs to meld their souls to objects so they're a bit gunshy.
Pippa Pettywood: Poor, poor Pippa. Unless she gives Aixa up, she would, however, fall under the category of 'mistress of a Djinn'. He wouldn't know to warn her either. Again, totally up to you if you want to push her this far out of her comfort zone.
The Nomad: He's a Time Lord and a former master of a Djinn. Double whammy! :3 I decided for Pippa to be his current owner since she doesn't have any other characters and, again, I'm trying for as many members as humanly possible to be involved. I'd still like for them to know each other, so perhaps this is after Leo releases Aixa for whatever reason? Or perhaps Leo regenerated so technically lost 'rights' over him? Dunno! Up to you, amiga.
That about sums up the pleas for those characters. Again, don't be shy about saying no. :P I understand that mainscale plots aren't a lot of people's cup of tea, but we think it would be a fun way to bring the site together. For those of you that are curious, here's a list of characters that have already volunteered.
The Phantom: You can thank her for this lovely plot! The Phantom is a Time Lady, so she's obviously a candidate for kidnappacy.
'Ace' McShane: She's both a companion to the Doctor and a Time Lady! She wouldn't recognize the Fifth Doctor most likely, but whatever.
Susan Foreman, Riocard Keâts, Zoe Herriot, Blue, and Aixa: Yes. Yes I am going to be having a lot of fun. 8| Susan is a Time Lady, Zoe traveled with the Doctor (although she doesn't remember any of it save for the Wheel), and Riocard was the Phantom's companion. Blue and Aixa will be (reluctantly) working for the Jinn in extracting information from them.
Now, let us move on to the types of characters that we'll need for the plot, if you'd like to have more than one character.
Jinn! We definitely definitely definitely need more! Especially of the 'evil' variety (although in their defense, they aren't evil. They're merely... aggressively extracting knowledge). I play a very crummy villain. So your assistance would be greatly appreciated for the purposes of villainhood.
Now, for those of you who haven't been mentioned and wouldn't want to play a Jinn (or perhaps those of you who haven't been mentioned, wouldn't mind playing a Jinn but also want to have your character in the threads), don't sweat it! Just post here, and we'll definitely incorporate you into it somehow. Whether you're in the wrong place at the wrong time, or somehow you can help from outside the Jinn Council's dimension. C: No need to be shy, we're all nice people.
Anyway, for those of you wondering how we're going to fit 39843920483920483290 people inside one thread, we aren't. Here's the plan:
The threads will be split off into 'chapters', that is, different parts of the story.
The first part is going to be The Jinn Council, where the Council decides what actions must be done to ensure the sanctity of the Jinn.
The end of the thread will then set off the Kidnapping section. This part will just be several posts of Jinn describing how they got each member. If we roleplayed out how each person got kidnapped it would be ages before we could even begin! However, if you have a particular idea on how your character would be kidnapped (and trust us - we like particular ideas. Makes our job easier, yes it does), just post it here or PM either me, Phantom/Ten, or Ace. C:
At this point, there will be three concurrent threads. The Jinn Council describing what the Council is planning, the Female Prisoners and the Male Prisoners. In cases where sex [gender, Captain Jack!] is ambiguous or not applicable, the Jinn err on the side of male, simply because there are very few 'female' Jinn.
The prisoners will, of course, eventually be herded into the same room. And from there, I don't want to give it away. C:
So hopefully there's something there for everyone! If you've got questions, comments, or suggestions, feel free to post here or PM me! Don't be shy! The more the merrier, and everyone is welcome!
(P.S. Have I mentioned that I would love you forever if you helped out with the under population of Jinn? Especially of the 'not-good' variety.)
